2019 Subaru Crosstrek
Earlier this year, the Subaru Crosstrek got a complete redesign. In true Subaru style, however, this redesign did not consist of a substantial styling upgrade to set it apart from the previous generation. For 2019, we expect the freshly redesigned Crosstrek to stay entirely the same.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Changes
We do not expect any visual changes in the 2019 Crosstrek relative to the recently redesigned 2018 model. This upgraded body includes more flowing lines than in the past, scalloped door panels, changed headlights, and more. The revamped Crosstrek also has a new chassis that enables its wheelbase to grow by 1.2 inches, its width to increase 0.9 inches, and its overall body length to grow by 0.6 inches.
On top of a makeover on the within, the revamped Crosstrek’s cabin also grew rather considerably. With exception to headroom, practically every seating measurement grew with the redesign, consisting of hip room and legroom in the front and rear seats. Also improved was its optimum cargo space, which grew by 3.4 cubic feet to 55.3 cubes, though space with the seats upright took a 1.5-cubic-foot hit to 20.8 cubes.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Engine
The new-generation Crosstrek also got a modified variation of its 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine. Subaru fine-tuned its output, raising it to 152 horsepower– a 4-hp gain– while its torque stayed the exact same at 145 pound-feet. We expect this to remain the same in 2019. At the minute, there are no indications that Subaru will be restoring the Crosstrek Hybrid.
We also expect the transmission choices to carry into the 2019 Crosstrek the same, including its basic six-speed handbook transmission on the base and Premium trims and the standard continuously variable transmission with manual mode on Limited trims. The base and Premium trims will also continue to have an optional CVT offered.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Safety
The 2018 Crosstrek hasn’t undergone IIHS screening yet, but the 2017 model was a Top Safety Pick and the redesign introduced 40% improved crash-energy absorption. This implies the upgraded Crosstrek needs to be at least a Top Safety Pick, and possibly even a Top Safety Pick Plus if it can score more than an “Acceptable” ranking in the headlight test. This need to all remain the very same in 2019.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Pricing & Release Date
Though we don’t have an official release date, we do expect to see the 2019 Crosstrek in display rooms in the summer season of 2018. Since there are no changes in the works, we don’t expect much of a shift in prices from the 2018 Crosstrek’s cost range of $23,710 to $27,210 (location fees consisted of). Key competition for the 2019 Crosstrek will consist of the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and the Jeep Renegade.
